Children, especially those with attention problems, may seem like they’re not listening, forget what’s asked, or get distracted in the middle of a task. We can better understand these difficulties by thinking about your child’s attention span as their “window on time.” For the best results, instructions, behaviors and consequences must all happen within the same “window.” We review some examples of how parents can learn to better use their child’s “window” to motivate them and help them follow through on daily tasks.
