ADHD is often left undiagnosed in women and girls for a multitude of reasons, both social and scientific. Outdated stereotypes of ADHD linger, leading some to believe that ADHD predominantly affects boys. Julia Hearne shares her personal story and discusses why minimizing the stigma around ADHD could increase the amount of girls that are diagnosed and treated. Julia Hearne is a high school senior from New Jersey. She is passionate about minimizing the stigma around mental heath. She wants to share her message with the hope of encouraging conversations regarding neurodiversity.
